Sick Day

Little sister woke this morning with a tummy ache, followed by throwing up. Then Grace woke with a tummy ache and threw up. Her blood sugar was 152 - a little high for her in the morning. She usually wakes between 75 and 100.

Her blood sugars yesterday gave no indication she might be brewing something. I've actually never had the experience of unexplained highs that precede a cold. We like to keep our unexplained highs just that... unexplained!

So we're all home from school today, hunkered down for movie day - a sick day indulgence. Their latest fav is The Wizard of Oz.

I tell you, sick days are so much easier with Grace on the pump. When she was on shots, she was on Humalog, NPH and Lantus. NPH never really worked for Grace, leaving her high mid morning and low at lunchtime. And sick days were a total mess due to all the NPH and Lantus on board all day, and not much food in her system. But now I can check her blood sugar and adjust her basal accordingly. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy!

Have a great Monday, everyone!
